PCB Design Engineer

Location: Mansfield, UK (on-site)
Salary: Up to £45,000 (depending on experience)

We are seeking an experienced PCB Design Engineer to support the development of advanced electronic products across military, aerospace, and space-related applications. This role involves creating high-quality rigid, flex, and rigid-flex PCB designs while working closely with engineering teams to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop PCB layouts (Rigid/Flex/Rigid-Flex) in line with established requirements and best practices.

• Carry out full PCB layout activities including schematic review, component library creation, placement, routing, and Gerber generation (Altium required).

• Produce and maintain technical documentation such as specifications, test procedures, and engineering drawings.

• Prepare fabrication, assembly, and schematic documents using CAD tools (SolidWorks).

• Troubleshoot design issues and support the PCB development lifecycle.

• Work collaboratively with electrical engineers and provide support to internal engineering and manufacturing teams.

• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety requirements.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Proven experience as a PCB Layout Engineer/Designer or in a similar role.

• Strong proficiency with Altium Designer; experience with Polar Instruments and SolidWorks is beneficial (Fusion 360 is a plus).

• Knowledge of analog, digital, power, RF, high-speed, impedance-controlled, and high-density PCB layouts.

• Understanding of PCB stack-ups, EMI/EMC principles, thermal management, signal integrity, and multilayer design.

• Familiarity with IPC standards for PCB design and fabrication.

• Ability to interpret and implement technical drawings and schematics.

• Experience with 3D modelling and mechanical integration.

• Awareness of PCB manufacturing, testing, and assembly processes (DFM/DFX).
